Top 5 Things to Watch
Sunday, November 30, 2025 4:58AM CST

OMAHA (DTN) -- Here are the Top 5 things the DTN Newsroom is tracking for the week of Nov. 30. Watch for coverage of these and other topics throughout the week on our subscription platforms as well as on www.DTNPF.com.

Note that all report release and webinar times are Central Standard Time unless otherwise noted.

1. Virtual Ag Summit: The annual DTN Ag Summit webinar workshop is Dec. 3-4, and free to the public. Our fourth annual virtual Summit event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. both days. Sessions will include weather, grain and cattle market outlooks from DTN's expert team, plus a discussion with the 2025 class of our Best Young Farmers and Ranchers contest. To register for the event, go here: https://www.dtn.com/… If you register prior to the event, this will also allow you to access the recording later if you can't participate those days.

2. Wheat contest winners: We're continuing to showcase the winners of the 2025 National Wheat Yield Contest, sponsored by the National Wheat Foundation. Watch for stories in the coming weeks. This year's overall winner, Rylee Reynolds of Twin Falls, Idaho, earned Bin Buster honors with irrigated soft white winter wheat that yielded 228.13 bushels per acre (bpa). It's the second-highest yield recorded in the contest's 10-year history, behind Reynolds' overall contest record of 231.37 bpa set in 2022. For story on 2025 yield, see here: https://www.dtnpf.com/…

3. Cold snap widens: The weekend's system will bring widespread precipitation, from heavy rain to sleet and snow. Very cold, arctic air will follow that system and set up another system moving across the Delta through the Mid-Atlantic early this week. Northern areas will see snow, particularly in lake-effect areas. Heavy rain, severe weather, snow and strong winds are all possible. Another system will move through early next week that may have impacts as well, but the forecast is for milder conditions by the end of next week. Western Midwest and Delta regions will see showers early in the week, falling temperatures. West Texas will be mostly dry through weekend, with isolated showers Monday-Tuesday.

4. South American weather: Scattered showers continue in central and northern Brazil into next week. A front will move through the south Sunday and Monday, but showers are forecast to be brief. Overall, below-normal rainfall is in the forecast through early December, which may start to turn conditions around as we move into the heart of the growing season. Good soil moisture is still in place across the south so that should be a slow process. Argentina has moved into a drier pattern, though soil moisture remains high across the country. A front is expected to create scattered showers this weekend, though dry weather continues into December.

5. Reports due this week: Here are expected markets and economic reports due this week. Times or days could be changed as reporting offices catch up following the prolonged government shutdown. Monday at 8:45 a.m. is S&P Final U.S. Manufacturing PMI for November. At 9 a.m. we get ISM Manufacturing data for November, followed by Grain Inspections numbers at 10 a.m. At 2 p.m. we'll have Livestock Slaughter numbers. Wednesday at 7:15 a.m. ADP Employment data is released. At 7:30 a.m. we'll see the Import Price Index for September. At 8:45 a.m. S&P Final U.S. services PMI for November, then at 9:30 a.m. the EIA weekly petroleum including ethanol production and stocks. At 2 p.m., Broiler Hatchery numbers come out. Friday will be busy with a few reports: at 7:30 a.m. Personal Spending and Income delayed for September, PCE Index and Core PCE Index year-on-year data, and the latest Trade Balance numbers. At 10:30 a.m. the Weekly Economic Index, then at 2 p.m. Poultry Slaughter and the 2:30 p.m. release of CFTC's Commitment of Traders report (delayed data from October).
